Miles L Jones & Heber J Grant visit King Oscar of Sweden

Visit to Scandinavia. In June I906 I received a letter from President Grant asking me to accompany him and others on a tour of the Scandinavian Mission ... Stockholm is a very beautiful city and has much to interest visitors. On the morning of the 4th while eating breakfast, President Grant said, "Boys, suppose we call upon the King today." We thought he was joking but he wasn’t. He had some letters of introduction from prominent men of the United States and he believed we could get an interview with him. We all readily agreed. In the forenoon, several of us visited the King's palace and also the Queen's apartments which were both very fine. We left the Grand Hotel at 2 p.m. to visit the King. An account of our visit appears in the Millennial Star, Vol. 6a Page 460-7--1906 issue.

Why this blog?

Last spring I was asked to speak at Stake Conference on family history and temple work. I guess they thought I knew something because of my indexing obsession a few years ago. But I hadn't done much in the realm of Family History. I come from one of those families where both sides were saturated with genealogists. My patriarchal blessing spoke of Family History but I imagined it would be something I'd do in a more, um, boring "season" in my life.

I started working on my talk and found the quotes on the side of this page. I wanted that protection for my kids so we all began to work on it together. Sienna is especially on fire. We find stories and rush to share them with each other. Our angle for now is just learning about our ancestors and who they were. If we find a name or two to take to the temple along the way - even better!

So here's a smattering of Stroud and Price stories and pictures, etc., as we come across them. Stroud stories are blue and Price stories are red. Some of our own stories will also be strewn throughout.
